A remarkably deep understanding of Vigil! Mr. Werntz really gets what George Saunders’ story is all about!

Maybe Mr Saunders could take on a fictionalized account of H Kissinger and General Westmoreland sharing a room in the afterlife where they engage in dialogue with the 3.5 million dead Vietnamese, Lao and Cambodian people trying to "humanize" the slaughter?

In Santa Cruz, Saunders’s said as much—‘yes and’ to Tolstoy with Vigil.
