Nice summation of a brilliant film. I think more might have been said about the use nearly throughout of the subjective camera, especially in the nearly Joycean opening scenes viewed through the observant, noticing eyes of a small boy. Or when the camera focuses on a speaker’s feet—after the speaker tells Elwood to “look at me,” the camera pans slowly up, as eyes would. Remarkable.
