"As Jason Diamond’s Instagram suggests, the modern American Jew’s journey is often a kind of dress-up: a night at the shvitz in memory of their grandfather, a sultry bathhouse selfie in a banya cap. The same pierogies, the same rivers of borscht flowing like the salmon of Capistrano. But why?" Nice!

This review prompted me to put the novel on reserve at the library. I'm looking forward to reading more about Chicago's immigrant Jewish culture, and yes, I'll be comparing it to Puzo's Sicilians, as well as Lehane's Boston Irish.

while youre at it get a copy of the Old Jewish Men's Guide to Eating, Sleeping and Futzing Around -- another cultural masterpiece

Check. I put that one on reserve as well. Thanks for the tip.

Here's a wonderful animation, outside of politics, that's a boost for Jews of history. Being finished after Israel invaded, the timing was terrible for getting it appreciated: IF THERE WEREN'T ANY JEWS: https://iftherewerentanyjews.com/index.html

Who is the publisher of Diamond's novel?

Jason's not related to Jonny Diamond the editor of LitHub, is he?
