There’s something about the times, I’d almost rather read a scorching takedown than a genuine piece of quality lit, and here we get to have it both ways. I started The Sound and the Fury recently, and two-thirds in, I have to agree with Bud Wiggins’ assessment. After following his slowly disintegrating career all these years, it was gratifying to see him go out on top.
I'm glad he had some flashes at the end, all else notwithstanding. Peeling of a stumbling sesquipedalian sausage. I don't regret witnessing it in the least.
This is excellent. Brutal, funny, and unexpectedly moving.

All I can say is, I was torn between this story and Netflix - and am happy to report that this story won out!
Loved it! Couldn’t ask for a better escape from the crushing reality of burning oil fields. Chapeau!
