I like your take on this movie looking bleak and drab, and while that could be due to a lack of budget, it's also possible that it is completely intentional as it conveys the story better.
ABSOLUTELY sold this to me. And I'd be in its target audience anyway, but I love it when a review just SMASHES down an open door (as they say in France...).
